Z Style Staircase – Free Standing Glass
This home was part of a development of eleven properties originally fitted with standard painted staircases and basic spindles. The buyers wanted something more refined that matched their home’s value and existing timber features.
Their priorities were to maximise natural light and ensure the new staircase complemented the timber already in the space.
We designed a simple, contemporary staircase using oak treads, a free-standing glass balustrade, and paint-grade stringers—allowing the timber to stand out. As part of a full layout rethink, we widened the staircase and added a single flat landing between the flights to improve both flow and appearance.
We also built a decorative undercarriage beneath the stairs and landing, removing the need for plasterboard and adding a clean architectural finish.
