Modern Cut String Staircase, Walnut
This staircase is inspired heavily by American style, with both contrasting treads and risers as well as a cut stringer being a paramount feature in homes over in the US. To achieve the contrast, this customer has combined walnut, a very dark regal timber, with mat white pine. This not only contrasts the dark colour with the lights colours but also grain of the walnut contrast. with the plain paint.
The cut string is an underutilised style which sets it apart form other staircase but also has a very useful function. Being that the staircase is parallel to the front door, visitors can see the detail on the treads as the walk through the front door, giving a great all important first impression.
One of the other key points from this staircase is its simplicity. No newels, no handrail, no spindles. Instead those re all replaced by glass. This makes the balustrade as simple as possible and gives a minimalist feel to the hallway. It also adds to the other finer details in the property as well as giving uninterrupted views out of the first story window which looks out over the garden.
