Stairs Between Wall – Oak Treads & Handrail
This staircase is one of five plots, each featuring two bespoke staircases over three floors. Each plot needed a high level of finish, with timbers which compliment the existing timber elements of the property, in particular the Oak LVT flooring. With that the client still wanted to keep hallway as bright as possible which is important with the staircase being encompassed by two walls on either side, trapping the staircase in place and making light an important commodity.
For this we set up with er a contrasting Oak tread with white risers and stringer which both continued the colour scheme set from the Oak LVT and blended nicely with the white walls. The bottom step has been turned into a bullnose, which makes the staircase sticking past the line of the wall into a feature as opposed to looking like a design flaw.
The staircase has been added to greatly with a continuous wall handrail which has mitres at all point where there is a change of elevation or direction as well as return mitres at the top and bottom so that there is no end grain on show. The limited balustrade which is present on the landing is an addition to the existing theme of Oak and White, but is made to stand our more with the details in the newel posts.
