Painted Staircase – Walnut Treads & Handrail

Part of a larger development, this staircase is one of five supplied to a run of properties in Altringham, but has a unique spec, setting it aside from the rest. This property warranted a simple contemporary feel, with modern components, capped off with a stark contrasting colour scheme.

The staircase is mainly painted white, with pine components everywhere, other than the treads, handrail and newel caps. These items where all American Black Walnut, which is the perfect choice if you are looking to contrast against a white background. The walnut also gave a great deal of character to the property, with the unique grain showing the quality of actual milled timber, not veneer.

There are actually two staircases in this property, with the basement staircase being enclosed between walls, but with the addition of a continuous wall handrail, it is given an extra helping of quality and is capped off with brass handrail fixings which match the other ironmongery in the property.
