Walnut Staircase, White Spindles
Contrast is the main design feature the client was aiming to achieve with their staircase, to have two colour schemes running in accordance to make the stairs stand out.
For this a darker timber, walnut, was used for the main body of the staircase with white spindles creating the contrast. This sharp colour scheme is broken up by the use of a grey carpet runner going up the steps making it less intrusive to the eyes.
For the overall style we used regency spindles and newels, which are a unique contemporary take on traditional spindles. The staircase begins with a double feature step, consisting of a large curtail and a smaller bullnose, these steps enable the balustrade to start further up the staircase and improve flow into joining rooms, as you walk up and down the stairs.
