Ash Staircase – Continuous Handrail
Client Brief
For this staircase the customer wanted a statement staircase that would replace her existing staircase which was enclosed by walls on either side. To do this the client had a full hallway redesign where everything was opened up and the stairs repositioned. The customers wanted a contemporary staircase with a continuous handrail.
Design
This staircase features a cut stringer which creates a feature out of the treads as they are lifted out from there usual position, encapsulated inside the staircase. This staircase is extra wide as the customer had an existing builder situated underneath and a longer than normal tread, allowing for the end of the staircase to finish around the adjoining wall.
Materials
The main body of this staircase is manufactured from paint grade softwood, which allows for a large chunk of money to be saved as more cost effective timber are used. We then opted for American White Ash for the handrail and treads, as the customer wanted a neutral timber which added texture without having an overbearing colour. The last element of the staircase are the wrought iron spindles, powder coated black, then stand out magnificently against the white stringers and walls and compliment the timber of the treads wonderfully.
