Curved White Staircase – Oak Voluted Handrail
Design:
This staircase proves that elegance isn’t limited to hardwoods like oak or walnut. By combining a painted finish with carefully considered detailing, it achieves a refined and high-end appearance. The gentle curve on the lower flight flows seamlessly into a voluted handrail, complemented by turned spindles and newel posts that reinforce the traditional styling.
Layout:
The staircase features a sweeping lower curve that softens the transition through the space and adds a sense of movement. It sits on a prominent solid oak bottom step, visible from multiple angles, creating a strong visual anchor. The contrast between the white underpanelling and the oak elements enhances the overall composition and ties the staircase into the surrounding interior.
Materials:
Constructed primarily from painted pine, the staircase is elevated through the use of key oak features, including the handrail and bottom step. These darker oak elements provide contrast against the white-painted timber, while the turned spindles and newel posts maintain a traditional aesthetic. The overall palette is carefully coordinated with the home, with doors, walls, and furnishings reflecting the staircase’s blend of tones.
