White Cut String Staircase – Continuous Handrail

This project is one of five new build plots, each with two staircases, for a development in Hunstanton, Norfolk. The project was fulfilled by us from start to finish with detailed site survey, design & plans, manufacture and installation done to the client’s detailed specification and requirements.

This staircase is manufactured from solid tulipwood everywhere other than the continuous handrail, which runs from the wall on the second floor, across multiple wreathes, to the opening cap which starts the staircase. These tulipwood elements where eventually painted white, allowing for a great contrast between the hardwood handrail and leaving a clean finish against the walls.

The staircase is itself is cut string, with continuous curved nosing elements on the landing areas, with the carpet runner on the stairs breaking up the white of the staircase and lending to the cottage feel of the property.

The client then completed the staircase by applying the painting and polish as well as plastering the underside of the stairs.
