Oak Staircase, Metal Spindles
For this staircase our client was seeking to rejuvenate their existing staircase, which consisted of white spindles, handrail and newel posts. They opted to add Oak newels, jhandrail an capping’s as well as contemporary iron spindles.
Metal spindles have seen somewhat of a resistance recently, with the traditional wrought iron with intricate designs giving way to much more minimal forms, with few if any details. In the case of this staircase, the client opted for an iron square spindle, which gave them a balance between the modern and the traditional. The small details on the spindle is further highlighted by the stairs minimal overall design, with the newels, handrail and capping’s all minimal.
the Metal spindles give out a great contrast with the natural wood, both materials taking opposing sides on material, colour and texture helping both elements to stand out in there own way. the stairs themselves being white on the stringer and carpeted on the treads is given greater contrast, with the whites and beige’s giving a better frame for the timber as well as the metal spindles, allowing them to stand out more.
