Cut Away Staircase, Quarter Landing
One of our own creations, the cut-away sting staircase offers a new take on an old creation. A cut string staircase is the classic that has adorned many old school stairs, where the spindles are received into the step as opposed to the stringer. At Edwards & Hampson we felt this traditional style needed modernising, therefor we designed the cut away string, designed specifically for glass with the stringer following the shape of the steps but with a Smooth finish.
The Client has a large overlooking gallery as well as a large amount of light going from the entrance, therefor they utilised 17.5mm glass which has been laminated multiple times and therefor does not need to be supported by newels or handrail. The client choose for a dark oak finish to increase the contrast between it and the white falls.
