Ash Open/Closed Staircase

For this design brief the client was an open plan staircase, however seeing that it was a half landing with the first leg boxed in, we made it half open and half closed.This gave the client what appears to be a solid structure integral to the wall with under stairs storage on the first run as well as a return flight which gave the most light possible and didn’t intrude into the room.

Another element of the clients design brief was that they needed the staircase to support a stair lift, which they believed may be problematic. However all of the staircases we produce are made from solid timber and even with the stairlift being bolted to the open plan section of the stairs, there is more than enough support.
