This staircase has a lot of different features that all work together to bring a real feature into this statement hallway. The colour schemes, materials and overall design are all picked so to make it stand out in a very contemporary hallway.
The colour scheme is one of the biggest elements. The two feature colours are the blacks used on the Treads, Newels and newel cappings and the whites on the risers and also the strings. These two colours contrast, not only on the general colours but also the texture with the white having a matt finish and the black having a textured finish with the grain coming through.
For a balustrade the customer decided to opt for wrought iron spindles. The spindles, powder coated with a matt black finish, offer a different feel on the stairs and break up the timber. As well as the spindles, the carpet runner has the same effect, offering an alternative material to the timber.
Lastly, the general design of the staircase has two main features: The main leg of the staircase is curved and the entire staircase is cut string. These two features dovetail well and both have their own importance.
